General xbox 360 question?

i want to buy the xbox 360 to complete my collection but im worried with the failure rate. can any one here tell me their consoles failure rate and which console is the best of course the elite but which one is the "good" elite. Ive heard of jasper chip the falcon chip and some other chip there is which one is the best???
