Claiming Uni costs on tax in Australia..?

As an addition to the above - even if you were a teacher while you were studying the Masters degree - if the fees were HECS related you could not claim them (which yours was since you were able to defer payment of them). Only those fee paying courses where all fees have to be paid upfront are able to be claimed through Tax but only if you were employed as a teacher at the time.
