What is the deep meanig of this....?

Ok. theres alot of ways to interpret this. I believe he's trying to live. sleeping means life. he's trying to live life, he's doing all he can, but bad thoughts are creeping in and hindering his ability to live life.His matress are things that have happened to him. Why does this matress have to be so cheap? is the author expressing his frustration about events that have taken place in his life. As the days goes on, the matress springs push on him, surrounding him by pressure. in the end he wants to do something, sing a lulaby, which could be a number of things so he can finally live life or " get to sleep. "
