Catholics: What about all these movies/TV series that portray the corrupt actions of the Catholic church? A?

I'm not Catholic, but you have to figure in the fact that, for a very long time, the first son was the heir and the rest got nothing. The 2nd & 3rd sons were forced to be a military man and a member of the clergy (can''t remember which did what). And unmarried women were often sent to the convent, whether they wanted to go or not. With such unwilling clergy and nuns, how could the Catholic church NOT have some unscrupulous people.
